Project description

Originally known as Orle Gniazdo, the hotel was part of a system of medieval castles known as the Eagle’s Nests.
These castles were strategically built on limestone cliffs to protect the borders of the Kingdom of Poland.
Now Mercure Szczyrk Resort, formerly known as Orle Gniazdo, is a luxurious hotel located in the picturesque town of Szczyrk. This modern resort offers 447 elegantly designed rooms, each providing breathtaking views of the Beskid Śląski mountains. The hotel features extensive event spaces, including a 2,500 square meter conference area, making it an ideal destination for both leisure and business travelers.

Biography: BPBP has completed a number of sports, hotel, commercial, and other public facilities as a general contractor. These tasks required good coordination of specialized and industry-specific work. Since 1950, the company has built almost all industrial plants in the Podbeskidzie region (3704 km²). BPBP participated in investments in the Katowice Economic Zone (including the “Isuzu” and “Lear-Leca” plants) and performed numerous modernization and adaptation works for FIAT AUTO POLAND in Bielsko-Biała. In addition to domestic tasks, BPBP S.A. has been successfully implementing facilities in the Czech Republic for 20 years, including as one of the main contractors for Skoda Auto.

Key Challenges

The high standards set for the quality of workmanship and meeting the requirements necessitate the use of only very good and proven construction solutions.
Specific nature of the object which was renovated from scratch rather than built anew.
Several limitations, such as the height of the floors, which needed to be adjusted to the existing structures.
High requirements for acoustic insulation, fire protection, and moisture resistance.
Location – this is one of the highest-located facilities in Poland (660 meters above sea level)
Logistic – difficult access for heavy goods vehicles, steep road

Key Achievements

Very good collaboration between Architect/Investor/Main Contractor//SGCP
To improve acoustic insulation, the corridors were constructed using the Rigips 3.40.06 system. This solution achieves a fire resistance rating of REI60
Acoustic insulation testing of partitions before approving Isover solutions
Rigips All gypsum boards and the wall profiles were made to the client’s custom dimensions
The entire project was carried out using RIGIPS boards (approximately 120,000 m² of Rigips boards), and SGCP ensured a constant supply of the product (without interruptions due to shortages of boards on the market)
