Key Challenges

  • Historically preserved building
    • Some parts of the building (like the mosaic made by Radomír Kolář in 1981) are historically preserved, so the project had to incorporate them and build around them.
  • Covid
    • During the pandemic, construction teams faced significant challenges, including compliance with government mandates such as isolation protocols, mask requirements, social distancing, site closures, and rising material costs caused by factory shutdowns.
  • Unplanned renovation of the roof
  • Large scale high ceilings
    • The construction required extensive work from large-scale scaffolding positioned high above the ground.

Key Achievements

  • Large scale ceiling
    • As a unique project in the Czech Republic, the ceiling of the main theatrical hall, designed by the architect, required meticulous planning. A scaled model was constructed to accurately determine proportions and ensure seamless execution during installation at significant heights, minimizing the risk of unforeseen challenges.
  • From a hardly used space into the beating heart of the town’s culture, holding great importance for locals
  • Energy efficient building
    • Grants supported the installation of new cladding and insulation, roof renovations, and the replacement of windows and doors to maintain a comfortable indoor climate. Additionally, a modern ventilation system was installed as part of the funding initiative.
  • Acoustic comfort
    • State-of-the-art acoustic solutions have been implemented to enhance the auditory experience for all visitors.
  • The entire building is fully wheelchair accessible, ensuring a barrier-free environment for all visitors.

Architect’s testimonial
Ing. arch. Martin Pálka
The goal of the reconstruction of the Cultural Center in Milovice was to preserve the building’s original character. A key highlight is the unique 3D-modeled theater ceiling, the only one of its kind in the Czech Republic. With no installation guidelines available, innovative solutions were devised during construction. Planning the ceiling involved models ranging from small prototypes to full-scale mock-ups.
