Project description

The building is conceived as a single cuboid with a clear form and a structural design based on a single lamella.
It contains a total of 47 residential units: 8 units per floor from the 1st to the 5th floor, and 7 units on the ground floor. The building is oriented with its wider side facing the sea view to the west.
The southern and western façades feature sections clad in stone panels. The choice of natural stone in this design is a modern approach to preserving tradition, as stone is a predominant material extensively used in Montenegro’s traditional architecture.

Key Challenges

Budget
• Since the building is residential it had strict budget limits which demanded optimization of the products and systems to reach the best price-quality ratio.
Technical challenges related to the installation of Robusto facade system
• Facade installers were not experienced with the installation of the Weber Robusto systems and this demanded some extra effort from the technical team of Saint-Gobain.
Time constrains
• Building had strict deadline because of the summer season which resulted with the very intense working pace and logistics.

Key Achievements

Saint-Gobain solution
• One of the greatest achievements of the project is the fact that all Saint-Gobain solutions were used. This includes Rigips drylining, Weber facade and waterproofing and Isover mineral wool.
Great cooperation of key participants
• Since Kalamper company is our long-term partner and client, we had very good cooperation throughout the project and further strenghten our partnership.
New solutions for contractors
• We have introduced Saint-Gobain Robusto stone facade solution contractors were not familiar with.

Sustainability in the project

Orientation
• Building orientation is optimized to maximize natural light and ventilation
Energy efficiency
• To decrease energy loss, great care was given to the right choice of materials with special attention to their insulation properties.
Maximal comfort
• To ensure maximal comfort for the ocupants, drylining partition walls were used. This provided improved sound insulation and acoustics.
