Project description

The Kora Green City aparthotel is the passivhaus accommodation with the largest capacity in Europe. It has BREEAM certification and an A energy rating, becoming a benchmark in sustainable construction. Interior walls are made with the partition system Habito® and arena APTA mineral wool, achieving excellent load capacity, and at the same time thermally and acoustically isolating the spaces to improve the comfort of the rooms. The rest of the spaces, partitions and ceilings were made with Placo® PPF, Placo® PPH, Gyptone® and Rigitone® 12/25, increasing acoustic comfort throughout the building, as well as the Ecophon Sombra A and Gabelex perforated tray in hallways.

Key Challenges

Delivery time and standard passivhaus
• This project had a very tight delivery time. This challenge was also related with the standard passivhaus compliance in the different systems of the building.
Volume construction: multiple systems, multiple agents
• The construction volume of this project was large: many square meters and many systems installed.
• There were plenty of construction agents involved in this building, mostly of them related to improve sustainability and energy savings.

Key Achievements

Excellent thermal and acoustic comfort
• Multiple solutions installed increase the acoustic insulation in the different spaces, improving the guests rest.
• This building has the maximum thermal conditioning with standard passivhaus.
Combine different ceiling solutions from Placo®, Ecophon y Gabelex
• There were plenty of ceiling solutions installed, granting the aparthotel an original aesthetic.
