Project description
El Molinón Stadium is a municipal sports venue located in the city of Gijón, Asturias, Spain. It houses the matches played at home by Real Sporting de Gijón and its name refers to a large hydraulic mill that was erected in the vicinity of the river Piles when it was built. Recently a series of renovations have been carried out, incorporating PLACO® solutions in different spaces of this emblematic football stadium, including a new boutique, press room, TV sets and players’ dressing rooms.
Contractor
GOEN AISLAMIENTOS
Goen Aislamientos y Revestimientos carries out both large and small projects in both new and reconstruction sites. They also cover all the requirements in both thermal and acoustic aspects. Recently they have collaborated in the installation of the exhibition area of the Julio Verne project in the Niemeyer Museum of Asturias.
Key Achievements
- The use of RIGITONE® on walls is a regionally uncommon solution to reverberation control.
- The use of the multiple PLACO® solutions required cohesion between them.
Key Challenges
Each space requires specific needs, which have been solved through the installation of different PLACO® systems. In the areas with humidity requirements PLACOMARINE® plasterboard has been installed. HABITO® has been used to ensure the fixation of monitors in the TV sets, where RIGITONE® ceiling has also been incorporated in vertical walls to improve the acoustic conditioning. In the boutique area, the installation of the 4PRO® plasterboard has been chosen, offering a perfect final finish due to its four refined edges and its ease of adaptation to any type of project.
