EC1 (West Part) 3D Cinema
AfghanistanCompany Name: PRB Andrzej Janicki
Project description
EC1 is the oldest Łódź power plant. It was established in 1907 and served the residents of the city until 2001. Revitalization of the historic building required very close cooperation with a restorer and all materials used had to meet specific requirements. Inside the building there is a modern 3D cinema in the form of a sphere. Use of a triple layer of plasterboard using curved and acoustic boards gave the desirable acoustic performance of sound insulation of RW min. 65 dB fulfilling at the same time the fire resistance requirement at REI 60. The contractor had to follow stringent construction requirements, consisting of bending the boards in two directions – internal and external which in turn created a ball effect. Respect for historical values, the original equipment facilities, and at the same time the need to work within the attractive post-industrial climate for buildings and interiors for the new features was a priority and a great challenge as well.

Key Challenges
Revitalization of the historic building from 1907 required the close cooperation of a conservator and all materials used had to meet specific requirements. Use of triple layer plasterboards using curved and acoustic plasterboards gave the performance of sound insulation of RW min. 65 dB and at the same time fulfilled the conditions of fire REI 60. The contractor had to follow stringent construction requirements, consisting of bending the boards in two directions – internal and external which in turn created a ball effect. The consequence of this was the launch of standard production of Rigips PRO Aku plasterboard at Rigips – Stawiany plant. Thereafter the plasterboard was introduced to our regular offer and metal studs were added at the construction of the dome.
