Key Challenges

Plaka Saint-Gobain was used to offer adaptable solutions to the project, including exterior covers and structures resistant to climate changes. This material facilitated handling at considerable heights and allowed the creation of spaces dedicated to rest, delicately integrating nature with the building. The curvature of the design and the conservation of the mangroves were key aspects in the execution. DEVELOPMENT OF A NEW SOLUTION
The implementation of light and reliable materials facilitated the construction of facades with extensive radial curves of up to 180 continuous ml, giving an appearance of lightness, purity and simplicity.

Our commitment is to guarantee structural elements that are safe and resistant to weather conditions, using materials that are safe, durable and of high quality.
COST/BENEFIT
The system of walls, ceilings and façade elements, such as skirting boards and parapets, is made of 6.35 and 9.20 metal profiles, gauge 20, with a maximum separation of 30 cm to ensure greater strength and rigidity, in order to withstand the wind speed present in the area.The envelope is made of 12.7 mm X-terium panels, with joints treated with BaseCoat. The 12.7 mm X-terium panels facilitate installation because they offer a lower load to the structure.

It has been very useful to us in providing a level 5 quality in the project in all areas of the interiors and they have certifications in the handling of light materials.
Plaka Logistics
The logistical challenge for SAINT-GOBAIN to bring the materials into the project involved sending the material through its transportation network from its plant to Playa del Carmen, including a complex dirt road of approximately 1.5 km, and thanks to its delivery times, was key to success.
Facades
The materials selected for the development of this space were chosen due to the versatility offered by Saint-Gobain products. These materials are ideal for their ability to adapt to temperature changes and for their non-invasive nature for the environment. The main priority was the conservation of the majestic mangrove swamp in which the hotel is located.

Sustainability in the project

EIFS SYSTEM
Using the EIFS a waterproof membrane was applied to ensure the protection of the façade, followed by a layer of textured paste that provided a high-quality aesthetic finish.
The building’s façades also play a prominent role in the hotel’s design. The terraces’ skirting boards and soffits have been covered with X-terium boards (12.7 mm), with BaseCoat applied across the entire area to create an ideal surface for the installation of polystyrene boards. This insulation system features an exterior finish known as EIFS (Exterior Insulation Finish Systems).
